In Emotional Tweet, 'Stranger Things' Star 'Barb' Comes Out as Bi

Not long after discussing sexuality with her fans on Twitter, "Stranger Things" star Shannon Purser, who plays the beloved character Barb on the hit Netflix show, came out as bisexual via an emotional tweet, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The message came after Purser, 19, got flack for taking issue with "Riverdale" fans who were "shipping" two female characters, Veronica and Betty, who kissed in a recent episode. She has since deleted the tweet but shared a lengthy message in which she comes out as bisexual.

"I don't normally do this, but I figure now is as good a time as any to get personal. I've only just recently come out as bisexual to my family and friends," she wrote. "It's something I am still processing and trying to understand, and I don't like talking about it too much. I'm very very new to the LGBT community."

Referencing her tweet directed at "Riverdale" fans, Purser offered an apology.

"I have never ever wanted to alienate anyone and my tweet was thoughtless," the actress wrote. "I wasn't referring to all the veronica shippers, just the ones who had particularly cruel to me personally. Either way, it wasn't a wise or kind thing to say and I'm disappointed in myself."

"I apologize to those who were hurt," Purser added.

Just last week Purser, opened up about sexuality with fans, saying "getting comfortable with your sexuality is a process."
