Will the real Hal Sparks please stand up?

If I had to describe television star, radio personality, stand up comedian and metal band leader Hal Sparks in one word, I would find it difficult to do so. Sparks, most recognizable as Michael on the groundbreaking "Queer As Folk" series on Showtime and past host on "Talk Soup," has amassed such a varied resume of work over the past 13 years even a chameleon might be a bit perplexed.

And, if you throw in his political activism and gay rights support the pot thickens. One may think that his current role on Disney's "Lab Rats," which became Disney's most viewed first season program, doesn't follow any career pattern for Sparks. But, after spending some time speaking with Hal prior to his upcoming stand-up show at San Francisco's jazz club Yoshi's on September 22, it became apparent there was no pattern to follow.

Sparks shared with me the risks and gains associated with taking a gay character role on "Queer As Folk," his thoughts on the position taken by the Republican Party on gay rights, what having a varied career does for his future, and how funny he finds our journey into the future.

Based out of San Francisco, BEBE SWEETBRIAR is the Omni Present Drag Chanteuse. As an entertainer and hostess, BeBe can be scene every week hosting and performing at countless events and parties in the San Francisco. One of the few drag personalities to sing live while performing, BeBe has literally graced every notable stage in San Francisco, bridging many gay sub-community gaps. She has also been the opening act for Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland, "Ugly Betty’s" Alec Mapa and Dance Diva Kristine W. Adding recording artist to her list of performance accomplishments in 2008 with the release of her first single "Save Me", Ms. Sweetbriar will soon release her fifth dance single in 2012 called "Show It Off"..
As an actress, BeBe was introduced to film with a lead role in the independent film "Under One Sun" with her character dealing with religious, racial and gender issues. Additionally, she appeared in the campy musical "Devious, Inc" (Australian Film Festival, San Francisco Short Film Fest) also adding additional vocals to the musical soundtrack. Both of these performances led to her selection for a lead role in Aisha Media’s next short film series, "" to be released in 2012.

Um, how did gale harold disappear for four years?? QAF ended 2005. He did three movies in 2005. He led a tv series on Fox, Vanished, in 2006 and did more movies, Grey’s Anatomy and Deadwood. WTF??

Thank you for standing up for Mr. Harold. He was also working between QAF breaks. I agree with Hal Sparks politics, but I find him to be very arrogant.

Hal....get some therapy! Your jealousy of Gale is beyond ridiculous, but to tell just a blatant lie, that some how Gale Harold disappeared for 4 years is just pathetic., you can see a list of his credits and from what I see ,Gale has worked steadily in series, film, and plays..,I implore you Mr Sparks...,get therapy you definitely need it.

His jealousy is killing his brain (in case he has it). He may think he would have been the heart of QAF, but obviously Gale was. Hal Sparks, please do us a favour, you should stop metioning Gale in your interviews because neither Gale himself nor us - QAF fans feel interested in any of your shits. Gale was, is and will be on a higher level comparing with you.

Gale disappeared for 4 years? Someone should show him Gale’ s IMDB rĂ©ume. And Hal, what the hell you were at that time? And I wonder why you always quote Gale in your interviews? Gale is a real gentleman and you acts like you were a duck, always" quack, quack, quack" around Gale for 7 years. Anything you said never change my opinion of Gale. You have your own life and so does Gale. You should leave that gorgous man alone

Poor pathetic Hal Sparks, only way he can get attention in an otherwise boring article is to attack Gale Harold in a statement he knows isn’t true...
