Fangtasia Cocktail for "True Blood" Season Opener

Mark Thompson READ TIME: 1 MIN.

The countdown continues to "True Blood Season 5," airing on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

Mixology team Snake Oil in San Diego teamed up with Kanon Organic Vodka to create a cocktail worthy of the season premiere.

Here are some notes on their creepy inspiration:

"First we chose to use coconut water because it is almost identical in composition to human blood plasma which makes it the universal donor since plasma makes up 55% of human blood."

"The Peychauds's Bitters was inspired by the location of the show, Bon Temps in Louisiana."

"The rest is balancing aesthetic elements which give the cocktail depth and flavor. Enjoy!"

FANGTASIA

1 oz of Kanon Organic Vodka
3/4 oz of pomegranate molasses
1/4 oz of fresh squeezed lime
1 oz of coconut water
2 dashes of Peychaud's Bitters

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS:

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake, and strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with Luxardo Cherries.
