READ TIME: 1 MIN.

OUTAthletics, the world's largest international initiative for bringing together LGBTQ athletes and allies, will host its first-ever Virtual 5K on Sunday, November 8, 2020, to raise money for programs supporting the LGBTQ community.

The event kicks off at 11 a.m. ET via Instagram Live with opening remarks from Founder and Chief Mission Officer, Will Lanier, trailblazing hall of fame triathlete, Chris Mosier, and black, queer, and transfeminine storyteller, Ianne Fields.

"We're really looking forward to this event," said Eddie Plata, Executive Director of The OUT Foundation. "With COVID-19, we've had to get creative with the types of events we hold to engage our community, and offering our first-ever Virtual 5K is an exciting opportunity for us as we look to expand our reach beyond just workouts inside a gym."

Registration is $20, and those fundraising over $50 will earn the newly designed Virtual 5K T-shirt. The T-shirts come in Run 5K, Walk 5K, and Wheel 5K. The first 100 people who register will receive an exclusive medal. Money raised will support the work of The OUT Foundation to remove the barriers that block LGBTQ individuals' access and participation in fitness, health, and wellness.

The top three fastest racers and the top three fundraisers will receive a prize bag with goodies from corporate sponsors, including RockTape, goodr Sunglasses, Athletic Brewing Company, and more. There will also be a spirit award for the most colorful, most engaged, super extra racer for those who tag @out.athletics on Instagram using hashtag #OA5K.

Those interested can register here to either run, walk or wheel at this virtual event.
