New Survey Forecasts LGBTQ Travel Plans

A recent survey conducted in collaboration between PASSPORT Magazine and The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association revealed that queer travelers are ready – and confident – to go on vacation.

Though the initial vaccination rollout has been bumpy at best, 78% of respondents plan to get vaccinated before summer if available, higher than the 71% national average as recently reported by CNN.

Respondents are ready to ditch their families and go on vacation instead, with an overwhelming 67% prepared for a holiday versus a meager 20.4% saying their first trip would be to visit family or loved ones.

And if you think domestic travel will reign supreme, think again. We must be subconsciously craving the locales of television hits like "Bridgerton" (London) and "Lupin" (Paris), with Europe taking top honors for our next getaway at 38.3%.

Queer travelers still crave urban environments despite crowds and COVID, with 52.3% preferring a city or cultural center for their travel plans, and we're not afraid of flying either! Nearly 80% will be ready to hop on a plane in 2021.

Only 57.4% percent said they'd feel safe traveling with others, even after receiving the vaccine, which perhaps means an uptick in solo travel in the coming year.

More than 94,000 travelers responded to the survey conducted online from November 18, 2020, through December 31, 2020.
