Woman Stabs Two Men Outside D.C. Gay Bar

Two men were reportedly stabbed by a woman in an "unprovoked" attack outside of a well-known gay bar in Washington, D.C.
As reported by the Advocate, the men were at Fireplace in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of the nation's capital last week when a woman passing by launched an assault with a pair of scissors that left one of the men bleeding from the neck.
According to Metropolitan Police officials, they arrested Mary Kennedy, 35, for the crime. While one victim needed to be taken to the hospital for medical treatment, the other did not require medical treatment.
"A D.C. Superior Court judge ordered Kennedy held in custody and required her to undergo a mental health examination to determine whether she was fit to understand the charges against her," the Advocate reports. Kennedy is expected to appear in court Aug. 28 where the nexts steps of her case will be decided.
According to the details of Kennedy's arrest, she fled the scene after stabbing the men and was apprehended by a uniformed Secret Service agent at a bus stop.
Witnesses said Kennedy did not speak to her victims before stabbing them and described the attacked as unprovoked, according to the affidavit. Bloody scissors were also reportedly found in her purse and identified as the weapon she used in the stabbings.
When D.C. police arrested Kennedy, scissors found in Kennedy's purse with blood on it were identified as the weapon used in the stabbings.
"They just walked out to get some air," said the day manager of Fireplace. "It had nothing to do with the bar. They were at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was just some crazy lady."
