Adam Bradley, lead singer for the viral band Sub-Radio, sings about being bisexual in latest viral social media post. Bradley went on "That's a Gay Ass Podcast" to talk with host Eric Williams about his coming out story.

In the interview, Bradley said he initially came out four or five years ago in his private life and has mentioned his bisexuality in a few of the bands' viral Instagram posts. Sub-Radio is known for their parody covers and Bradley is no stranger to singing about his bisexuality in other covers like "Stacy's Dad" and "Bi Bi Bi." The latest cover that mentions Bradley's bisexuality is when Sub-Radio put their own spin on the "High School Musical" song "Breaking Free" called "You Awakened Me."

"I have decided that I can lay the blame at the foot of 'High School Musical,'" said Bradley in his interview with Williams. Bradley said seeing both Zac Efron as Troy and Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella in the hit 2006 film made him question where his attraction fell.

In their interview, Williams and Bradley talked about how a young Bradley navigated these feelings and if he knew he was allowed to be attracted to more than one gender.

"I did not know that was allowed and as a small man with non-masculine interests in high school, I was already kind of terrified of attracting that label," said Bradley. "I did not come out until my late twenties and a lot of that was a rational and irrational fear of what that would mean about me."

Bradley, now in his early 30s, struggled with masculinity growing up.

"A particular hurdle for me was the fact that I am quite small and I really got my head wrapped up in the standards of masculinity in middle school and high school that I could not physically live up to," he explained.

Williams continued the conversation by asking Bradley if he had ever experimented with anyone to confirm what he was feeling.

"Not until I had already graduated college," said Bradley. "I don't even think intentionally but I was sort of a serial monogamist for like a decade where I sort of was just going from committed relationship to committed relationship and so there was not a lot of time or space for that until I was out of college."

While Bradley did not explore his feelings physically while attending American University in Washington D.C., his opinions on masculinity began to change.

"I did not feel like I had to perform that same kind of masculinity at some point in college," said Bradley. "I think when people go to a liberal arts school in America you get a whole lot of self-awareness and you learn a lot about other people. All of that was very helpful to me so I did not feel scared of being feminine or saying that a man was attractive but I still could not bring myself to the point of saying it's part of my sexual orientation."

Williams and Bradley also discussed Bradley's coming out and if he had any concerns about those around him accepting him.

"No frankly and in retrospect I don't think I had much reason to ever think that would be the case," said Bradley. "My family has always been wonderful and supportive, especially around this kind of thing. My sister is also out and that happened around the same time and never in a million years would that be an issue. At the time I came out it was so easy for me to do it because most of the people I know are queer."

Sub-Radio first gained popularity through live streaming performances on reddit during the pandemic and they went viral on TikTok for their parody covers. In 2022 they put their own spin on the 2003 hit song "Stacy's Mom" singing instead about "Stacy's Dad." The group has gone on to create more parody covers as well as release original music. Their west coast tour "Sunrise City" is set to kick off Sept. 16, 2024 in St. Louis, Mo.
