Drag Queens Are Coming to Save America Once Again

Drag queens are once again coming to save the country.

As reported by USA Today, "RuPaul's Drag Race" alums Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Peppermint, Alaska, BenDeLaCreme, and Willam have launched a first-of-its-kind Drag PAC to get Gen Z voters to the polls.

"We as queer people have to recognize that we are part of a community," said BenDeLaCreme, who is a two-time contestant on "RuPaul's Drag Race." "It's our job to keep things moving in the right direction."

Considering more than 25 anti-drag bills so far have been proposed across the country this year, the PAC seems to be a natural response to garner much-needed awareness about the ongoing assault against LGBTQ+ equality and drag queen celebrations.

Two states, Tennessee and Montana, have already banned drag performances, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.

In a video teasing the PAC, the queens underscored the importance of this year's presidential election.

"We're in the middle of something historic," Monét X Change said in the video. "This is the most important election cycle for queer people's rights and freedoms in our lifetime."

Monsoon added, "It's not on you as an individual voter to fix all of these problems. It's on you to use your voice to say, 'Damn it, fix these damn problems.'" Things will get better over time," she said, "if we continue to push forward and not allow people to cause us to retreat."
