Out Czech Soccer Star Jakub Jankto Shares Holiday Kiss Pic on Instagram

It's never too late for some holiday love!

Out Czech soccer star Jakub Jankto, 28, shared a heartwarming photo to his Instagram Stories this week.

The festive snap shows the athlete kissing a man who is assumed to be his boyfriend in front of a Christmas tree. Jankto, who has not publicly commented about his love life, added the caption: "We wish you a Merry Christmas!" adding a Christmas tree emoji.

Last year, Jankto made headlines when he came out as gay, making him one of the most high-profile male soccer players to come out. "I'm homosexual. And I no longer want to hide myself."

"Like everyone else, I want to live my life with freedom, without fear, without violence, without prejudice, but with love," Jankto said in a video at the time.

Since officially coming out, the athlete has further discussed being openly gay and a professional soccer player.

"Now I can finally live the way I want and that's what matters most. It was definitely a relief," said Jankto just a few days after coming out. "I want to give an example to others, to show you can keep doing your job. And I think I have given a very positive example."

"I didn't want to hide," Jankto told ESPN, describing situations that could raise questions in a context where someone is still in the closet. "Maybe I'm watching a YouTube video or a TikTok, or messaging someone, or you're dating guys, and you're scared someone will see it," the midfielder said. "You're hiding your phone. I didn't want to have to do that, that was a bad feeling."

"Maybe if I date a guy, I had to hide, too," the athlete added. "You weren't sure he wouldn't write" something about the relationship if it was hidden.
