Some of 'The Traitors' Contestants Wonder, 'Who Is Sam?'
READ TIME: 6 MIN.
Super hot model, actor & fitness guru Sam Asghari is best-known for having married Britney Spears. But that claim-to-fame has eluded some of his fellow contestants on Season 3 of "The Traitors."
Asghari is well-known by any fan of Spears as the singer's second husband. The model, fitness guru and wannabe actor and the superstar were married from 2022 through 2024. They met when he subbed for another performer in the "Slumber Party" music video in 2016 and were engaged in 2021. At the time, he signed a prenup that protected Spears $60M fortune (at the time). Spears became pregnant in April, 2022, but miscarried. They married that June, but separated 13 months later, and officially divorced in December, 2024.
Last summer, Asghari traveled to Scotland to join the reality show contestants chosen to be part of Season 3 of "The Traitors," Peacock's runaway hit that plays a game of murder amongst perps ("Traitors") and victims ("Faithfuls") in a remote castle owned by host Alan Cumming. Asghari is an outlier amongst the 23 contestants who are familiar names from such reality franchises and shows as "Survivor," "Big Brother," "Real Housewives," "RuPaul's Drag Race," "The Bachelor," "The Bachelorette," "The Biggest Loser," "Summer House," "Total Divas," "Vanderpump Rules," "Selling Sunset," "The Real World," and "Down to Earth With Zac Efron."
Asghari joins British Royal Lord Ivar Mountbatten as the contestants without any previous television exposure, which have made them both all but transparent during the show's first four episodes. But what's proved more problematic for Sam is that some had no idea as to who he was and why he was there.
Dorinda Medley, from "Real Housewives of New York City," found herself out of Cumming's castle when she was the first victim of this season's 'traitors' when she was sent home on the second episode. Post-elimination, Medley visited SiriusXM's "The Julia Cunningham Show" to detail her time with fellow game players at the Scottish Castle, People magazine reports.
Asked by Cunningham about Asghari, who, like Medley, was amongst the show's 'faithfuls,' Medley confessed to drawing a blank as who he was. " "I had no idea. By the way, this is a funny story. Swear to God, it's true. Cross my heart. I had no idea who Sam was."
She was in the midst of giving him divorce advice when she asked, "What does your wife do?"
Medley was then informed by fellow contestant, "Big Brother"-alum Britney Haynes that Sam was Britney's ex-husband."
"I had no idea. You know, I'm sort of one of these people that kind of, I'm very good at being in this world and very good at being not in this world and I think that's how I've kept my sanity all these years," Medley explained. "I get very present in whatever I'm doing."
Asghari didn't devulge much about the divorce (or, as Cunningham asked, if he said he had signed his life away); instead Medley asked about his well-being. "I was mothering him 'cause that's what I naturally do," Medley confessed. "I love to mother. I love to cook for people, take care of them, work them through their problems. That's what comes very naturally to me."
